
CELEBRATED theater director Tian Qinxin was appointed professor of the performing department of the Shanghai Theater Academy today.
For every one to two years, Tian will direct an experimental drama featuring the academy's performing arts students. She will also give lectures at the college to share her decades of theatrical expertise and experience.
Tian, a veteran drama director from National Theater Company of China, has adapted a lot of classic novels from home and abroad. Her latest work "Beijing Fayuan Temple" has received hails from both critics and audiences.
Tian will present a new remake of the 2001 classic "Hurricane." The show will feature new graduates of the academy and be staged for the public.
"Young graduates will have a chance to learn how to get accustomed to the professional and challenging career of acting," said Tian. "Many of them also have their strength: pure, energetic and healthy."
